I'm Maks, CTO of a newly released AI-based app in healthcare, AweMyFace.
My personal experience led me to develop this product. I've been suffering from acne since I was 16. I've tried a billion possible treatments, got a consult from dozens of dermatologists and cosmetologists, researched, and learned a LOT of scientific, medically proven, psychological research. What I've learned on the way is that acne is a way for our body to warn us about infection or hormonal imbalance. After communicating with friends, colleagues, strangers, and doctors, I've realized that I am not alone in this acne-soaking boat. Every second person didn't know this imbalance-acne connection. Few people understood the cause-and-effect relationships of their acne. That is why in March 2022, we got together with a team of like-minded people and decided to develop an application that will help decode such signals and keep a history of treatment - we created an individual pocket guide.
The AweMyFace application is an assistant and a guide to the world of clear skin.
Our application uses ML's capabilities to analyze the skin's condition and damage to one or another area of the face. We are very concerned about users' personal data, including photos, for analysis, so all statistics are calculated directly on the client's device. Over time, the model learns to work more precisely: to classify blackheads, and open/closed comedones, and recognize birthmarks on different skin types. During the research, we could not find a single competitor with similar functionality, dealing with users' pain.
What are the features of our application?
1. An objective assessment of the skin condition on the face, thanks to AI, showing statistics on the areas of damage that should be paid attention to (forehead, cheeks, chin, etc.) and suggesting which organs are responsible for them.
2. Track a routine - a user's diary, where they note down their activities, which indirectly or directly affect the skin condition.
3. Receive recommendations based on the affected areas and the user's habits, how, for example, chronic lack of sleep or dehydration affects new pimples.
4. Show the dynamics of skin changes to find the best possible traction on the way to adjusting lifestyle for clean skin.
According to statistics, about 10% of people worldwide suffer from acne and seek treatment for the symptoms without understanding the causes of the breakouts. We believe in a holistic approach and that there is rarely a single cause of acne. Therefore, we want to spread the word about the multichannel approach to understanding your body and decoding your body's signals.
