Hey Product Hunt! I started working on this project out of frustration with the voice to text on macOS (Gahh, Siri!) and have found I am now using it around 50 times per day. @gary159 Hey Gary! Under the hood we are using whisper.cpp. A C++ port of OpenAI's Whisper model. In my experience it's quite a bit better than the dictation capabilities of macOS, especially when it comes to things like the name of a company or proper nouns and punctuation. In addition, superwhisper gives you more control over how you want it configured. And I have many more features planned, so it is going to be customizable to wherever you're using it for. https://openai.com/research/whisper

SuperWhisper has entered the sacred list of startup items for my MacBook. It runs incredibly well on my M1 chip and have been using it a ton with Slack, brainstorming, and emails. Really nice to be able to dictate out a longer email and then use chatgpt or just good old human brain power to clean up, format, and refine the message. One of the few apps that you use and sticks into your workflow. 👏

Cool to see something I actually use daily get hunted. Would recommend people check it out for Slack in particular, makes it feel a lot less like work. I also use it for emails obviously enough, and am starting to find that I'm using it more for brainstorming ideas when I just want to talk out loud before reviewing my thoughts. Highly recommended

Looks awesome! Feedback: on mac desktop, superwhisper takes over the esc key, so i need to use fn+esc in place of esc. is this expected behavior or is it some setting on my device? i love the product but fn+esc is a huge hassle and makes this a nonstarter for me.

@alexb123 This has been fixed in the release made last night (v1.9.4) update for the fix. Now esc hotkey is only activated while recording
