A decade ago, between digital signal processing class and Music theory 401, I dreamt of an algorithm that would sift through the avalanche of songs out there are and matchmake between them and the ears looking for them. That would figure out the intricate mix in every song and find it a home. Because very few things in life are as deep as the feeling you get when a song breaks through to your heart. Walls come down, tears emerge, joy bursts out… There’s some sort of witchcraft in the mix between lyrics, music and sound that is individual and collective, casual and profound. And after that last note is sang and the last word spoken, you find yourself hungry for more. It could take months until you stumble upon that feeling again! MyPart set out to pursue my dream. We're on a mission to redefine how you discover and experience music. Until now, our AI engine and platform was reserved exclusively for industry professionals: Music executives at record labels, publishing houses, and TV, film, and advertising agencies have been harnessing MyPart’s AI to find the perfect songs for their creative projects. Now, MyPart's Songhunt Beta puts this powerful AI tool in YOUR hands. With Songhunt, you can: 1️⃣ Discover songs similar to the ones you love, e.g. ‘I’m looking for songs with cheeky lyrics a-la Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” or “I’m after songs that sound like Frank Ocean’s “Pyramids.” 2️⃣ Customize your search to match exactly what you’re looking for. Prompt by genres, decades, instruments, lyrical themes and moods, and more, e.g. ‘Danceable but angry pop songs with lyrics about breakups.’ 3️⃣ Build theme, mood, and genre-based playlists that you can export to your favorite streaming platform and share with friends on social media.

Sweet! I'm curious - does it look at distinct sonic qualities of the songs to discern similar songs? I find Spotify to be very good at recommending bands that would likely tour together based on listenership but they aren't actually sonically paired.
Matan Kollenscher
What a cool question @kyleadams ! The secret sauce of our approach is that our AI analyzes sonic qualities, lyrical qualities and compositional qualities, and then combines them in a way that is likely to resonate with the human ear. But Songhunt actually allows you to search for songs that are only similar in one of these aspects! Once you search with a song, a red icon appears to the right of the search bar ("define similarity type"). Click it and choose to sort the results by "Production and Sound" instead of weighted similarity. Try this out and tell us what you thought? 🤘

"A decade ago, between digital signal processing class and Music theory 401, I dreamt of an algorithm that would sift through the avalanche of songs out there are and matchmake between them and the ears looking for them." What a great intro, haha. And that brand name is ⚡️ Some feedback since you asked for it in launch notes: - I tried searching artist name, and it wasn't able to resolve, so swapped to song and it worked. - My instinct was to look for a search bar in the middle of the landing, the artist pictures on the slider didn't really add to my user experience. 😅 - I love the click and instant YouTube stream. Very friendly/easy. Congrats on your launch!
Matan Kollenscher
@esus - thank you so much for your kind note and amazing feedback! Means a lot ❣️ Artist names should work as well - but we'll check that out asap! Our AI has crunched about a quarter of a million songs thus far - so it might be that we simply missed your favorite artist... We'll be adding features tracking favorite requests so that we could crunch as many songs popular requests as possible. Re: artist pictures - noted! Thanks again for taking the time to share 🙏 Happy songhunting! Please drop us a line if you think of anything else

It works well and it's got good prompting. I'm definitely supporting this, especially for its potential. Planning any integration with Spotify and others? And I'm curious how you populated your database: there's not many songs right now (totally normal, don't misunderstand me) and I'm wondering what you have in store for it. Congrats on a launch well done.
Matan Kollenscher
@fabiosalvadori Dear Fabio - thank you so much for your kind words and vote of confidence 👏 We really appreciate your support and your input! Re: Spotify integration - you can already export playlists to Spotify! Press "+" at the bottom right of any song you'd like added to a playlist throughout your search, and note the top right icon which lets you edit/export your playlist to Spotify. If you have additional integration ideas - do drop us a line! Re: DB - we've crunched around 250,000 songs thus far, but definitely intend to add a lot more! AI analysis of lyrics, music and sound is quite a heavy workload for a startup 😅

Matan Kollenscher
Thank you @zeng for the rad words and good vibes!
Do we need to integrate Spotify for it?
Matan Kollenscher
Hi @rameshkannan ! You can export playlists to Spotify without logging in to your Spotify account: Press "+" at the bottom right of any song you'd like added to a playlist throughout your search, and note the top right icon which lets you edit/export your playlist to Spotify. If you have other integration ideas - please drop us a line!

Darya Sosnina
Hello, team! Congrats on the launch! Can this app replace other music apps such as spotify and Apple music?
Matan Kollenscher
Hey @darya_sosnina ! Thank you for your support and inquiry ❤️ Nope! We see Songhunt as complementary to streaming platforms. We aim to reinvent the discovery part with a 'song hunting' experience that is content based (lyrics, music and sound) while everyone seems to rely primarily on social patterns and trends to make song suggestions. Think about it this way: in other fields (including video streaming!) - the search part is mostly separate from the content consumption channel. So on Songhunt, you can export the gems you found as a playlist to your favorite streaming app

I seem to only be able to search based on a particular song and not a full prompt. Am I doing something wrong? I was trying to search this: "give me songs similar to what weyes blood did in titanic rising"
Matan Kollenscher
Hi Javier! ( @rocketmanjb ) Yes - simply put the name of the song you'd like to use as a reference at the top, and let it autocomplete. In your case: "Weyes Blood - Titanic Risen" will return two versions (one instrumental). Then you can further hone your search by using filters. Or click the icon on the right of the search bar to choose if you'd like more specific types of similarity - such as lyrical, writing style, sound-alike or compositional similarity. Hope that makes sense!
Javier Bonilla
@kollenscher From you initial comment I got the impression that I would be able to prompt a bit more deeply, not just use an existing song as the basis for the search. Is this something that is planned? If not, how is this different from something like https://www.chosic.com/playlist-...?
Matan Kollenscher
First of all - thanks again Javier for taking the time to delve into Songhunt! Re: the prompt - for the Songhunt beta - we worked on *presenting* the prompt, based on the user's selection (song/artist + sorting method + filters). With that unlocked (as you can hopefully see) - we definitely intend to explore a fully free-text prompting interface in the near future! Re: Chosic and co. - there are two parallel major differences: 1. ALL of the data upon which our similarity search and filtering works on is extracted by our own algorithms and models, analyzing song audio and lyrics. This approach is content driven - not historical listening habits / trend analysis / collaborative filtering like the streaming platforms'. 2. On top of sound analysis (genre/mood/bpm etc.) - we take lyrics and musical composition into account in ways that have never before been possible. Our models deeply understand theme and narrative, as well as writing style differentiators including literary and linguistic devices such as repetition, profanity usage, rhyming schemes, stress patterns, verbiage selection, and more, as well as harmonies (chords progressions), melodies, vocal hooks, modal influences (such as blue notes and pentatonic moves), color chords and rhythmic patterns - just to give you a feel for some of the subtleties that are taken into account on Songhunt.
