How do you currently stay updated with the news? What frustrates you most about it?

How do you currently stay updated with the news — and what frustrates you most about it?

Would you listen to news or read?

I’m building NewsMate, an AI-powered news assistant that gives you real-time & personalized summaries, tailored to your interests, auto swipe and reads them aloud, so you can stay informed on the go — without the noise or overwhelm.

Would love to hear how you consume news and what you'd want from a tool like this! 💬

I have seen a few News feed apps that summarise content from your favourite sources.
E.g. I have my favourite websites where I try to search for something "spicy" but usually try to follow a specific category. If I could sort my feed sources according to category or according to a certain keyword, it could bring me more relevant topics.

@busmark_w_nika Hi Nika, thanks for sharing that! 🙌

Totally hear you — many of us have go-to websites we check regularly, but digging through them manually or trying to find that “spicy” story can be hit or miss.

With NewsMate, one of the core features we’re building is the ability to create custom channels based on any topic, keyword, or combination you care about. For example, you could track something like “ethical AI in Europe” or “spicy takes on digital privacy” and NewsMate will auto-pull relevant stories across trusted sources, summarized in one place.

We’re also working on smart filtering and tagging, so you can sort or prioritize by your interests — exactly like you said, more relevance, less noise.

Thanks again for the input — it helps a lot! 😊

Out of curiositywhat would your ideal news experience feel like? Is there anything you wish existed but haven’t found yet?

We’re building the experience based on real user feedback like yours 🙌

Would love to learn more from your perspective as we keep shaping this!

Cheers,

Nika

@valhun Hello Valhun, for an extensive answer. To be honest, I haven't experienced something special when it comes to sorting news, but I have been using the TidyRead plugin to be notified about the news from websites I am interested in. It works based on an RSS feed.
