Features, features and more features!
Hope the day has been faring well, my new found friends.
Henyustra here with quikplots, my first born child due on the 29th of August 2025 (officially) <3
It's pretty daunting being a first time dad, so I'm here with a (desperate) plee for help!
Quikplots is a map making web app, where the underlying philosophy is letting users create professional maps that reflect their data and creativity within one platform. React powers the whole app client side with google's firebase taking care of most, if not all of quikplots business logic.
Reading first hand accounts from journalists, I found a minor moat that hinders their reporting, where the ability to edit maps where news occurred, happened "reliably" on desktop.
Must have been a divine revelation when I decided to fix that by revamping quikplots to dynamically route mobile users to a mobile browser friendly UI based on window size, which allows for quick color mapping and essential mapping features that works for onTouch events on both IOS and Android.
This plan of action came with its own Trojan horse, where I had to figure out ways a user can move and pan a map without triggering native mobile window events. Current testing seems to be working on both IOS and Android.
Now, before a journalist in the middle of a warzone is desperately looking for a mobile map editor,
I need to borrow some of your spiritual pressure to battle test quikplots, so no one would ever get disappointed!
Which is why I'd like to take my time and thank you very much for reading through all this,
I would be so happy to hear all your thoughts, scrutiny, and praise (if there is)
Wishing you the best,
Heshana.
