Parachute for iOS is a set-and-forget backup companion for iCloud Photos and iCloud Drive. It keeps your memories and documents safe by backing them up to your own storage.
Parachute Backup is a set-and-forget backup companion for iOS. It automatically syncs your memories—photos, videos, and documents—from iCloud Photos and iCloud Drive to your own storage (USB drive, network drive/NAS, Google Drive, and more), giving you peace of mind and full control. You can manually run backups, or setup scheduled backups to kickoff automatically.
Parachute Backup for Mac has been very well received, but the number one as was to build a version for iOS -- enabling friends and family without a Mac to backup as well!
Available on the App Store for $3.99, family sharing enabled

@emann Hi Eric—thanks for building Parachute Backup Mobile. Before I purchase, could you clarify how it differs from and overlaps with iCloud+ and OneDrive?
My setup today
• I pay for iCloud+ (1 TB) mainly so I can restore my iPhone if something goes wrong and keep my iCloud Photos/Drive in sync.
• I also pay for OneDrive (Plus) so my iPhone photos auto-upload to the cloud, and so I can manually upload/store files and folders there.
Questions
1. In practical terms, what does Parachute do that iCloud+ (iCloud Photos/Drive + iOS device backup) and OneDrive’s Camera Upload don’t?
2. Can Parachute fully replace either of those subscriptions for:
• photo/video backup (including Live Photos, edits, metadata),
• files/folders I choose manually, and
• reliable restore to a new iPhone?
3. Where is data actually stored? (USB drive, NAS, Google Drive, etc.) Do you use any Parachute-hosted cloud or is it 100% my own storage with no lock-in?
4. What does the restore flow look like after a device loss—can it rebuild my library/albums, and is versioning/dedup supported?
5. Pricing: is it one-time or subscription, and is there any trial/refund option since the App Store build is paid?
Knowing this will help me decide whether Parachute could replace one or both of my current subscriptions. Thanks!

Finallyyy, an easy way to back up iCloud photos straight to my own USB drive—no Mac needed! That’s super clutch for peace of mind, fr.

@cruise_chen thanks for the note!
I’d want to know if the app supports incremental backups so I’m not uploading the same files over and over. That would make it faster for me.

@oliver_harry6 It does, yes!
Very good idea. Is it encrypted at rest, incremental, and safe to run in the background?
