Hey, Product Hunters! 👋
Two Dmitrys, two Nicks, and Julia (who is definitely the most beautiful part of our team 👩) are here!
We are very thrilled but extremely nervous to show you what we've been working on for the last few years. Yeah, there is no overnight build project here, and it seems we are too patient 😅.
And yeah, we build something in the so-called "boring" area, which means no AI or other trendy thing here (frankly speaking, we have some AI features as microservices, but they are not yet good enough to make some public noise) 🤬.
Anyway, let's dive in!
We've been working as an outsourcing dev team for a few decades and helping others setup different tech stacks for their needs. We've built a lot of internal tools to speed up the process, but most of them never had a chance to become products. Until we started to work with videos and faced exceptional circumstances.
🙀 Problem
It seems wired, but when it comes to setting up video in different ways on websites, there are a lot of limitations, from the proper encoding to setting the player in the right positions. We have been working with some notable publishing sites, and even with the help of their high-quality dev team, there were a lot of limitations in the CMS or website stack to properly setup and feed the player with the necessary videos.
💡 Solution
Instead of embedding video OR playlists, we've built an JS tag that handles player insertion into the code. The little magic here is that it parses the DOM to find the proper HTML tag and sets the player into it.
To remove the limitation of embedding, we create pre-built video units. Think of it as the spot, which you can feed with the video right from our management panel. So, instead of keeping your video library in different places and installing each video manually, it can be done in our web panel.
And it definitely speed up and simplified the process of setting up videos on webpages. It literally (no jokes here) takes just a few minutes and does not require any requests to developers.
😑 Boring part
To be modestly called a video platform, we built everything to handle top-notch video delivery experiences:
- Encoding engine (no third-party API involved)
- CDN delivery
- Build-in marketing tools, e.g., links in the player, collecting email leads, and social media sharing links
- 4K video support
- Brandable player and campaign support
- Competitive analytics
- API support (we think about developers too👩💻)
💵 Monetisation
We are bootstrapping SaaS. It took us a while to build a nice pricing table, but it seems we've found a reasonable balance between monthly fees and video consumption invoices.
We are also working on a pay-as-you-go model, but it is not yet ready for release. Keep an eye on our updates 👀.
😻 Nice part
We are really proud to show our product in public today. Even though we are still very nervous 😵💫. We would appreciate any feedback and support you might share with us. Don't hesitate to try us at https://origits.com; we have free accounts with some limitations.
As a part of the long-awaited Product Hunt launch campaign🍾, we are proud to offer a 👍25% discount on any of our plans during the next seven days.
Thank you for your time and your incredible support!
Thank you for a good question @falak_sher
- No need for website code editing; you install the header JS tag once, and then you can install the player right on inside our panel at any time.
- Video units instead of embedding video. It makes it extremely easy to, for instance, run a video A/B test.
- Flexible tools to manage how and when to show video units
The rest, well, we did our best to make everything work quite the same as the existing solutions.
