AI-powered testing tool for web apps that finds bugs before your users do. We only need your website’s URL. Our AI agent knows what to test, writes the tests and keeps them relevant. Run the tests from our app or plug them into your CI/CD pipeline.
In past experiences as a growth product manager, I spent *weeks* testing new features before shipping them.
Octomind leverages AI to help with that and significantly reduce lead time.
Go to octomind.dev, drop your website's URL, test, learn, and start shipping with confidence!
@fmerian There was literally no good tool to streamline end-to-end testing as a whole. That's why we decided to build Octomind.
Thanks for your kind words!
👋 Hey, Product Hunt, I'm Marc from Octomind.
I've always been a sucker for code quality. At my previous startup, we were building a labeling tool used by thousands of labelers every day. Breaking functionality would leave paid labelers idling and our customers losing money. We had to end-to-end (e2e) test to make sure our apps don't break. But let's be real, these are a pain to write, a nightmare to maintain, and they are almost always flaky. We just had to change this.
@daniel_roedler, my co-founder, had a eureka moment when he realized that generative AI is now in the right place to make e2e testing much, much easier. That's what we're building at Octomind. We use state-of-the-art AI to eliminate the most annoying parts of e2e tests - writing, running, and maintaining. One by one. You build apps that delight your users. What if someone took over testing so you can focus on creating? Would you end-to-end test if it was easier? Let us know what you think,
Marc
After 11 intense months of development, customer interviews, refinement, and learning, we are thrilled to release Octomind to the public. A big shout-out to our team for making this happen!
Hats off for the feature of testing your own domain/web app. I just had a look at it because I was curious and all of a sudden I was signed up at Octomind. That's a smooth flow, I'm sure your octopus catches a lot of signups with this testing-tentacle ;)
General feedback on the Website Design: Some of the octopus-visuals are really detailed and - at least for me personally - looked a bit scary. They make me think more of a fantasy video game or DnD than a clean & easy DevTool.
The visuals definitely make you stand out, but for me personally I'd prefer more of a clean and simple look (e.g. like your Logo is designed).
I'm excited to see in which direction you develop!
@lrueger Thanks a lot for the feedback! I hope the sign-up didn't feel too unexpected.
re: octopusses: you are right, they might look scary at first just like tests, but once you get to know them they are very loving and cute ;)
But kidding aside, good point and we will think about if we should un-scary some of the visuals!
@lrueger thanks for the feedback on design. In the beginning, the clean, simple design was chosen, but we started to prompt some octopi pictures and went with a more playful style. We're still experimenting.
Great idea! We're currently internally revamping our E2E tests with PlayWright for our signup/login components. Especially working with some features that require more complex user interaction in the field of passkeys / WebAuthn (e.g. using Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello to authenticate) is annoying and can hopefully be optimized with AI.
Do you already have tested WebAuthn / passkey capability with Octomind?
@vdelitz Hey Vincent, great idea. Unfortunately we do not support those ways to login yet. We have a working version of testing 2FA however with one-time-password, that is already in use by some of our users.
But we will take your idea into consideration, and you are right that there's a lot of complexity in the authentication/2FA realm.
@vdelitz we have support for OTP but not yet for the rest you mentioned. Would be happy to talk to you about your use cases. Let me know if this sounds interesting.
seems like a great product to iterate rapidly on your product while at the same time ensuring that you don't drop the ball by shipping bugs! I've just set up my first alerts
@jobrietbergen time to first test case should be <1 minute, and is exactly what we're going for, just give us an url and start with test cases immediately that you can just plug into your pipeline!
Your AI-driven E2E testing tool is a game-changer. It streamlines testing processes, boosts accuracy, and saves time, making it indispensable for modern development teams. Truly impressive work!
@sstanic thank you! And not only dev team, everyone who has something to lose when the app breaks. I got burned so many times, even as a marketers Paid campaigns went nowhere and customers got frustrated online. Not good.
This is the new way of using e2e tests (or start using them at all)!
E2E testing is absolutely mandatory to really make sure you can ship a solid product. But they are way to expensive to write, maintain and verify, and in the worst case you have some manual checking with predefined user flows. Now all of this can be automated, amazing!
@fabian_both you nailed it! Only if we can get the cost and effort down for creating, maintaining and run e2e tests, we can make them really useful. We talked to a lot of users who spent significant time on composing e2e tests only to abandon them shortly after because the effort to maintain them was something they couldn't afford. We are on a mission to solve this challenge! Thanks for your support!
A useful tool for every website, collaborating with it allows for a double-check on what is not working on your website. Congratulations on your launch guys!
I had the pleasure to see Octomind evolve over the last months: Incredible people building an product with an incredibly high potential to revolutionize end-to-end testing in the industry. Just image if you don‘t have to take care of breaking/flaky tests most of the time.
It's so easy to use, you just need to give it a URL and it will do the rest. Octomind will discover, generate, execute, and auto-fix your tests using the latest AI technology. You don't need to install anything, learn new tech, or worry about flakiness. Octomind will also integrate with your CI/CD pipeline and comment the results back to your pull requests. Octomind is a lifesaver for anyone who wants to ship high-quality web apps faster and easier.
@georgi_urumov and you know, if you can operate the software with just one hand (while the other one is holding a beer), only then it is good software! :)
Would it be useful to see some kind of in progress for the first test you try? There is no indication of how long the first test will take or if it's progressing. I think this will end in users dropping out, thinking it didn't work.
@sentry_co Hey Andre, there should be some form of progress spinner during all parts of the setup flow, but it might be that we missed something, could you explain exactly what you did to get to a no-spinner state, or where you are missing something? 🙂
@sentry_co Feedback is gold! Would be super nice to hop on a short call with you to understand where you got stuck. Because, if you got stuck, it will also happen to many others. The big fat feedback button in our tool allows to easily schedule a call with us. Looking forward to talking to you!
@daniel_rodler I went back to the site after a while, and could see my tests. You should focus on your launch today ;). DM me on LinkedIn in a few days when things settle down and we can do a quick WhatsApp audio call. I like what it did so far. But of course, getting around SaaS login is always the big hurdle with AI UITests. So will be interesting to see how you solve that. I guess some kind of token, but still sometimes tricky with bank sms tokens etc.
I'm particularly interested in the ability to run tests from the app or integrate them into CI/CD pipelines for seamless automation.
This could be a valuable asset for developers looking to streamline their testing process and ensure high-quality web applications.
Testing is a crucial part of software engineering. I'm glad to see projects like OctoMind that aim to reduce the complexity of writing tests. Proud to have witnessed the growth of the project from the get go.
Sounds like a great idea. It will definitely help developers to save time and increase productivity. Big congrats on the launch of Octomind and good luck today team❤️🦄
is it somewhat programmable/promptable? I think that would be ideal if you could write something like: "click the button and enter random information in the text box" or something.
