Bringing Open Source AI Email Infrastructure to the Community
We’ve just made a big leap at Maildep—opening up our AI-enhanced email infrastructure as an open-source project to support builders, startups, and teams who want more control over how their mail systems work.
If you’ve ever dealt with the limitations of traditional IMAP/SMTP or struggled to scale intelligent automation into your mail pipeline, we’re now offering two paths:
Full Self-Hosting: Deploy the entire stack—mail server, AI backend, and automations—on your own infrastructure. It’s containerized, modular (Node.js or Python-based), and built with privacy and customization in mind.
Semi-Hosting (Dedicated Cloud): For teams who want powerful automation but don’t want to manage the full stack themselves. You get your own dedicated infrastructure, unlimited domains and mailboxes, and AI capabilities out of the box—without going fully self-hosted.
We’re hoping this makes it easier for developers and orgs to build smarter, more adaptive communication workflows while maintaining flexibility over deployment.
Would love your thoughts:
What challenges have you run into when trying to self-host mail?
Have you ever integrated AI into email infrastructure or pipelines?
You can check out the project and details at https://maildep.ai, and we’re actively welcoming contributors and feedback as we iterate.
