Cloud Cleanup in CleanMyMac - Cloud space has limits. Cloud Cleanup makes it feel infinite

CleanMyMac’s new Cloud Cleanup feature scans your cloud storage to find large space-wasters. You can securely remove files from your space or unsync them from your cloud storage. Works entirely on-device with accounts on iCloud, OneDrive, and Google Drive.

Hey Product Hunt 👋

I’m Oleksandr, founder and CEO of MacPaw. When I built CleanMyMac almost two decades ago, it was to solve a problem I and others faced – to keep my Mac clean, fast, and organized. Over time, it’s grown into something millions of users rely on.

Today, we’re taking a big step forward: Cloud Cleanup is now available in CleanMyMac ☁️💻

With Cloud Cleanup, you can now visualize, manage, and declutter your connected cloud accounts - iCloud, Google Drive, and OneDrive - all from one place, securely and privately.

We’ve been excited by the early feedback from our community, and we can’t wait for you to explore it. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Looks like a decent feature! Very intuitive and beautifully designed, well done! Just one question for the team... Will Cloud Cleanup show me a preview before deleting anything?

Ethan Wayne

@hiksenia Great question! Yes! Cloud Cleanup will scan your storage space and then ask you to review and select files for deletion. You can sort by file type, size, and access date. You can see an example attached here!

@ethanwayne awesome! Thank you!

Hello Product Hunt community,

As a marketing manager, I upload most of my files to the cloud, like Google Drive and iCloud. But sometimes, the storage becomes too heavy, overloaded with archives, PDFs, and videos that we carefully craft for MacPaw products.

That's why the new Cloud Cleanup feature is my new favorite — now CleanMyMac can declutter not only my local drive but also my always-messy cloud storage.

Any questions about the feature? Feel free to ask!

Hey Product Hunt!

I’m Vira Tkachenko, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer at MacPaw. I’ve been with the company for 17+ years, starting as one of the original developers on the very first version of CleanMyMac, and it’s been an incredible journey watching it evolve into a go-to utility for millions of users.

Today, I’m especially excited to share a major update we’ve been building: Cloud Cleanup is now live in CleanMyMac!

For the first time, CleanMyMac goes beyond your local disk. With Cloud Cleanup, you can analyze, manage, and remove clutter from your connected cloud storage — including iCloud, Google Drive, and OneDrive — all within one secure and privacy-respecting interface.

This feature came directly from user requests, and I’m incredibly proud of how the team brought it to life. It’s the kind of problem we love solving: making something complex feel clean, intuitive, and powerful.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and ideas for what we should build next!

Hi Product Hunt! I've been using CleanMyMac since before I even worked at MacPaw, and I couldn't be more excited to see these tools being brought to my cloud storage.

Cloud Cleanup is undeniably a huge leap forward for the company. I hope you enjoy our Product Hunt discount and take a look at the new feature!

Marlies

Exactly what I needed! So excited for this!!

Ethan Wayne

@marlies_ Glad you're excited. Thanks for the support!

Olena Vozna

This sounds like exactly what I need! Can I choose which files to keep before anything gets deleted or unsynced?

Ethan Wayne

@aliona_vozna Yes! Just like with CleanMyMac's other features, you have complete control over what goes and what stays. I've attached a photo of the interface to give you a better idea. Let me know if that clears it up!

Congrats on the launch! I’m a big fan of CleanMyMac. Does Cloud Cleanup help with duplicate files across different cloud services?
Ethan Wayne

@victor_sh_dev Hey Victor. Thanks for your support! Cloud Cleanup supports cleanup of three major cloud service providers: OneDrive, iCloud, and Google Drive. You can even add in multiple accounts from the same provider (like a work or school account). I've attached a photo here of the interface to give you an example!

Oleh Idolov

All the way up! ⬆️ 🐾

Ethan Wayne

@oleh_idolov Thanks for the support Oleh!

@kpyto thank you for your support, Andrii!

This looks really useful! One question about the privacy aspect, how does CleanMyMac access and analyze cloud storage without actually storing or accessing the file contents? I'm always cautious about tools that connect to multiple cloud services.

Ethan Wayne

@new_user___2102025ccf300597b9cff85 Hi Ліна. You're absolutely right to be cautious about how your data and files are being handled. At MacPaw, we also place a huge value on privacy and security.

While you do have to connect your cloud service to CleanMyMac for this feature, communication happens exclusively between your Mac and your cloud provider. All of the processing is done on-device, meaning none of your files are ever saved or accessed on our server.

If you're curious, you can visit https://macpaw.com/policy to learn more about our privacy and security policies, or feel free to ask more questions and I'd be happy to help out.

Kateryna Nazarenko

A lot of heart and hard work went into this release!

Huge congratulations to the team!

Yulia Chuzha

@katerina_nazarenko, I absolutely agree. Thank you for your contribution, Kateryna!

I think like 95% of my Google Drive is old videos. Once I’m down to clean up, it’s just faster to do it right from CleanMyMac instead of switching windows. So this is def a useful shortcut.
