Hot take: A $2B valuation doesn’t impress me anymore… but Lovable actually deserves it.
I’ve launched 100+ websites using Lovable. I’ve helped others do the same and even flipped some into cash (and a few quiet acquisitions along the way). So yeah, I’ve seen firsthand how much of a game changer this platform really is.
That said… here’s the truth: most platforms forget the people who made them valuable once the money hits. Community gets replaced by corporate. Creators become an afterthought.
I hope Lovable doesn’t follow that path. Because this raise could either be the fuel that empowers the next generation of indie builders… or the moment it all starts to feel like just another SaaS story.
I’m rooting for the former but I’ve seen the latter too many times.
Let’s see what they do with the bag.
That'll fund a lot of prototypes! Is Product Hunt ready for the onslaught??

@chrismessina haha that's a good point

Congrats to the Lovable team! 🎉 As someone who's been building with AI tools, it's exciting to see a platform that truly understands what developers need. The ability to go from idea to full-stack app so quickly is a game changer. Looking forward to seeing how this funding helps you scale and improve the platform even further. The future of development is here!
Congratulations to the Lovable team. They are doing something amazing for sure. I've shipped a full product and it's super impressive.

Really impressive. I hope we can get Mocha to a similar state.
I think the supabase choice for backend is really poor, to truly unlock vibe coding for non technical people the platform needs to cover the end to end of the building, operating, and deploying experience.
@nichochar interesting take, Nicholas!
curious what a good alternative would be in this context from your perspective: another Postgres-based provider e.g. Neon or a different data system? eager to learn more, Mocha looks promising (Product Hunt wen?)

@fmerian product hunt soon, we have to do better at launching publicly!
I think postgres is really overkill for personal software.
The vast majority (99%) of these apps have low scale and evolve very fast. Postgres is way to heavy of a solution for that. Forking is expensive (going back between versions) and operating is expensive.
I think there are 2 good choices:
noSQL DB with loose constraints like mongo (this is what base44 uses)
sqlite: the best choice. This is what Mocha uses.

@fmerian we're doing a PH launch soon. Any advice?
@nichochar IMHO there's no secret sauce. keep it simple. launch. enjoy. repeat.
Product Hunt pays off in the long term.

I love @Lovable and the company is going wild! Congo @fmerian
Impressive milestone for Lovable—raising over $150M at a $2B valuation signals strong market confidence. As companies scale at this level, financial oversight becomes even more critical. It’ll be interesting to see if they lean into online controller services to maintain agile, accurate financial management during this growth phase. Smart financial infrastructure can be a major differentiator at this stage.
I was going say, they deserve it.
However we see so many other website builders that are actually starting to get better than lovable. So lets see how well they do in the long run, especially considering we see that Google created their Own Cursor with Gemini, Claude Code also is a another coding tool. Many Developers are actually transitioning to the big guys. Will be interesting to see the shift in the coming years.
