Are you falling behind your competitors? HeadsUp is the first AI agent that alerts you to competitor moves and helps you respond. Get instant insights then real-time alerts. Setup in 60 secs and HeadsUp runs on autopilot.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Dru Riley, founder of HeadsUp.
I built HeadsUp because I was tired of learning about competitor moves from support messages and DMs.
Over 5 years building Trends.vc, I've seen founder-focused products launch new features and pricing models that caught me off guard.
Other competitor monitoring tools just tell you that something changed. They force you to dig through HTML and screenshots to figure out what it actually means.
HeadsUp is the first AI agent that tells you what changed, why it matters and gives you actionable insights.
To get started: 1. Add your domain 2. Pick competitors 3. Get instant insights
🚀 PH Launch Deal: Lifetime deal available during our launch only.
Would love to hear your thoughts! What competitor moves have caught you off guard?
@dru_riley Congrats on launching such and incredible product! Having dealt with similar headaches, this will make it much easier to keep track of competitor moves and pricing changes.
This is so true! "Other competitor monitoring tools just tell you that something changed. They force you to dig through HTML and screenshots to figure out what it actually means."
great, and very useful, pretty accurate for my business findableapp.com I also like how you can manually add more competitors to analyse.
Small tweak I'd suggest: I had to enter my domain name twice. Once on the landing page and then once again. Could be done in one go to make it even smoother.
@peterbuch and turns out the anxiety was real lol. Someone sent a screenshot of what happens to users when the server restarts while they're using it. Not very pretty but have an action item now. Thanks again 👊
I tried to apply it to our event and am pretty satisfied with the offered alternatives. I would also appreciate a summary of what to improve/add to our website to make it more attractive. E.g. can it somehow detect the most visited websites/categories of the competition, so we could add them to our website too? :D
"E.g. can it somehow detect the most visited websites/categories of the competition, so we could add them to our website too? :D"
While it should be improved, when you hover over a competitor on desktop you'll find the domain rating which is a proxy (but not quite) most visited. Competitors are also sorted based on this SEO metric.
Regarding the summary, such a great idea. Added to the roadmap.
Dru is one of the deepest thinkers I know. Everything he creates comes from much research and distilling that research into the essential experience without distractions.
As markets move fast, knowledge about what your competitors are doing is as important as ever and HeadsUp gives you that with not only alerts but action plans.
I was actually wondering not too long ago why there wasn't such a service like this out there now that we can extract all this information with much more ease using AI.
@ed_forson Great question. Some top priorities are getting more insights on competitors. We have basic SEO things now but web traffic will be added, as well as tagging insights so you can quickly filter price/product/other types of insights and improving the email briefs that are sent.
One reason I'm excited about HeadsUp is there's no shortage of use cases to unlock. The roadmap is very deep.
It's clear in my time using HeadsUp over these last few weeks that Dru has taken the time to actually understand what we're looking for when it comes to competitor research. As the saying goes, "the devil is in the details," and HeadsUp does an incredible job at diving into those details.
Safe to say, I have a feeling this is going to be a product that's going to be around for a very long time as AI continues to improve, iterate, and show us more and more of where we can build and create better.
This is awesome, @dru_riley I’ve definitely had that “wait, how did I miss this competitor update?” moment more than once. Love that HeadsUp doesn’t just tell you something changed but actually explains why it matters. How do you see AI-driven insights shifting from reactive monitoring to proactively shaping a founder’s product roadmap?
A chess analogy was the first thing that came to mind. In chess, some beginners try to copy their opponents every move, but by move 3 or 4, they're in trouble. The key isn't to copy but to find/create and exploit imbalances.
I think it's similar in business. If your competitor raises prices, maybe you don't raise yours. You could exploit that new value gap. So HeadsUp should help you counter-position, not just copy.
To your question: I see it going from "they did X." to "they did X, which creates opportunity Y for you."
The proactive part is being informed enough to have an accurate model of the world, so you can execute your own game plan.
Would love to your thoughts on this?
And how did you respond after those moments of “wait, how did I miss this competitor update?”?
@dru_riley Love the chess analogy, it really captures the shift from reacting to positioning strategically. I’ve learned the hard way that most competitor intel fails not because of missing signals, but because of drowning in noise: every press release, feature drop, or hiring announcement felt important. The big unlock was mapping moves to customer outcomes, sometimes a flashy feature creates more gaps than it fills. Curious how you’re thinking about balancing automated detection with human interpretation in HeadsUp, since that feels like where the real advantage lies.
The content is super engaging and simple. It's clear a lot of effort has gone into it.
I did have one small suggestion regarding the user experience. When I clicked on a link to an archived page on web.archive.org, it took me away from your website. For a smoother experience, it would be great if these types of links opened in a new browser tab or window. This way, users can easily return to your content.
@d_ferencha Great catch with this. Just fixed it. Have been pushing fixes throughout the day. Since someone recently reported that HeadsUp goes down for a few minutes during deploys, will push later tonight. Thanks!
This looks brilliant @dru_riley! Like that you surface the insights; love that you make them actionable. Congrats and I'll be sharing this with my clients. Hope you're well, old friend :)
Ngl, getting actual insights instead of just “something changed” is a gamechanger—no more detective work in HTML, finally! Love what you built here, Dru.
I’ve found it extremely helpful around data to help our team iterate on our positioning and website conversion rates.
This is not a product that overpromises and under delivers. I really appreciate the quality of competitive data given in the reports. It’s really good.
@dhikshith That's great to hear Dhikshith! 👊 Love the idea behind Folksable btw.
Have been using habit apps for years and Folksable seems like it mixes 1 Second Everyday into the experience. Nice onboarding too. Just upvoted in the app store.
🔥 Congrats on the launch! I've watched this evolve from UI mockups to what it is now. It's a no-brainer if you want to understand your market, know what to do and when to do it. Give it a try.
