@onatcer I haven't used Chromcast Audio, but as I understand it, it always streams through your phone. Gramofon connects directly to Spotify, so even if your phone is off or out of range, it continues playing. Spotify connect also means that any device with a Spotify client open can control it. I can start playing a song from my phone, and then pause it via the hardware button on my Mac.
I bought a Gramofon when they first came out, but it's been to hard to setup and buggy that I've actually never actually got it to work and put it back in it's box. It's been on my shelf looking at me ever since. Grr.
Used Gramofon together with Spotify Connect for last year and love it. Decent price and just works. Creates a receiver for Spotify Connect, allows me to control the music from all my Spotify apps (Mac, iOS etc) and then plays it out to my Sonos system.
Backed it on Kickstarter and love it! You can plug it to any speaker and make them "connected". No need to change your whole setup, no need to invest lots of money in a pricey Sonos...
The Spotify Connect integration works great. It only miss a way to stream audio from laptop and that would be perfect solution.
I was gifted one of these when they came out and used it once. I prefer pairing with my bluetooth speakers.
I can see how it could be handy to attach to an existing older hi-fi unit via aux but thats it.
Its sitting in my drawer right now, who wants to buy it off me? lol
