The New GitBook - Your team's go-to for technical knowledge management

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Sara, and I'm the CEO of GitBook, a knowledge-sharing platform built for technical teams. This is by far our biggest launch of this year, and I'm super excited to share it with you all! But first, a little bit about how we got here… Ever since we first started GitBook (in 2014!) it’s been our goal to be the best platform for creating and collaborating on amazing documentation. That started with open-source public docs, but recently we’ve been using our experience to improve how teams handle technical information internally, too. Oh, and we’ve also got a pretty cool new brand and UI to go alongside it. We hope you love it as much as we do! Anyway, let’s talk features: 💬 Turn Slack conversations into documentation — The new GitBook Slack bot can take a thread, extract the useful info, and turn it into docs. Plus, it can answer questions using information in your knowledge base — just ask. 🛠️ Create docs while you code — Narrate a quick guide in VS Code and GitBook will combine your actions and voiceover into documentation. This one can answer questions, too — just like our Slack bot. ✂️ Introducing snippets — GitBook AI takes unstructured information from those integrations, extracts the important parts, then creates a snippet — a structured page in your docs that’s easy to read and digest. 💡 Maintain your docs with content insights — Insights now help you identify pages in your knowledge base with contradictory information, or duplicated content. So you can find outdated pages and quickly fix them at scale. ✨ A completely new UI design — We’ve redesigned our entire UI to match our new brand. It’s cleaner, faster, and more modern 💅 These are the headlines, but over the past few weeks we’ve also made a ton of QOL improvements in the app. From better performance, to improved comments, real-time collaboration and more. But all this is just the start. We have a lot of big plans for what comes next. We hope you’ll join us for the ride! Hi! Congrats on renew! Can i integrate GitBook into ours team documentation in Notion? We store public API data there and would like to automate the update process. Or any tips to do this with your platform?

Been using this for a while... Gitbook is a life saver.. Let me tell you the best part of this.. It has a little analytics center which you can use to find what people are looking for in the documentation.. Supervised is used by 12K+ users globally and I was able to find that most people were stuck at the upgrading part because it had much more visits than any other page.. Total life saver for devs.. Love this!

This looks like it will be great for my internal docs, dealing with multiple codebases and keeping all the docs up to date can be pain. I'll check this out.

I used GitBook almost a year ago, and I found that it's the most comfortable place for writing my software and library documentations. It allowed me to organize parts of the documentation seamlessly. This rebranding of GitBook has improved the appearance of the user interface. I would like to thank the GitBook team for taking their time to achieve this huge milestone, because now it contains AI-powered tools!

So excited to see this live!!! And have been using it with some personal projects lately too. Finally a way to document Visual Studio Code snippets in a heartbeat 💓

Big fan of Gitbook here! We use it for our technical documentation (https://docs.dyrector.io/) I like the new look of the tool a lot and I think it's an awesome tool worth checking out when you're writing docs - both external and internal use. The cool thing about Gitbook is that they support open source projects, that's why we're able to use it for free. How cool is that! Cheers!

Absolutely love Gitbook. Best documentation tool out there. Just one negative: they never let you hide the branding logo from the page. Defeats the purpose of white labelling in my opinion.

So excited to see this launch go live! There are ton’s of great features, but I've been using the Slack integration _so much_ already. Quick example: We had a discussion about how we want to name specific things, and after a quick conversation we made a final call and I saved the thread to GitBook — then just copied the summarized information into our Glossary. Saved me a ton of time! 👍

Do you still require / promote Gitbook on the documentation site even after they've paid for the product? That was a show stopper for us.
