I've been using the ghost browser from yesterday and its pretty impressive. I've ditched the Google Chrome browser for the ghost browser. This browser is basically "google chrome" on steroids. If you are a tech professional / social media manager (or) developer, this browser is a must have for you. The best part of the browser is if you use more than one social media account (1 personal and 1 business), you have to 'log out' one account before opening your second account. This browser eliminates that and you can open all your social media account in 1 window. To know more about the ghost browser, check this video.
In my opinion, this looks like a great alternative to chrome. Since it was built on the 'Chrome' base, all the chrome apps and extensions are working fine in this browser. Feel free to comment below, the maker will be able to answer your queries. Good luck :)

@ramkumarhq Thanks so much for adding @Ghost_Browser to @ProductHunt. Great Description too! Glad you like it.
Cat Kokoszka
@ramkumarhq Thanks for the great review of @Ghost_Browser on @ProductHunt! I'm glad to hear that Ghost is your new every-day browser and that you're enjoying it! Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you. Happy Ghost browsing :)

I do this with the People menu in Chrome. I setup a different Chrome profile for each group of social accounts. Then I can have them all open at the same time. What is the benefit of this?
Larry Kokoszka
@joshdance Thanks for bringing this up! The People menu works for some use cases for sure, so if you're happy with it, go with it. However a lot of our users have switched to Ghost because they weren't satisfied with the following things: 1. Multiple windows are messy and cumbersome, whereas having isolated cookie jars in one window tends to help you be more productive. 2. Multiple windows require you to keep your extensions in synch manually. For example, I use Roboform for password management. But if I create a new profile, I have to install the Roboform extension into the new profile, whereas with Ghost, all of the extensions I rely on to do my job are available to every session because it's all in the same window. 3. Same with auto-fill data. Profiles in Chrome do not share auto-fill data, so you're constantly rebuilding that info. For social media management, you can have a peek at how Cat uses Ghost Browser here:

@larrykokoszka I've been depending on Chrome's multi profile abilities for a long time too. I'll definitely give this a try. What is Ghost Browser's memory consumption like compared to a multi profile Chrome setup?
Larry Kokoszka
@frassmith Hi Fraser, I'm sorry for the late response. I did not realize this was a new comment. Compared to a multi-profile set up, you will see significant improvements in performance with Ghost Browser because each profile you load up is heavy. With Ghost, you don't need a second profile for most tasks, so it's lighter. Here's an article we wrote going into more detail. http://support.ghostbrowser.com/...

@larrykokoszka hi Larry, thanks for the update. I'm on vacation at the moment but I know my invite is waiting for me when I get home tonight. I'll be trying it when I'm back.
Larry Kokoszka
Hello everyone. I'm Larry, one of the founders. I'm a bit of an efficiency freak so I built Ghost Browser to help me get through the mundane tasks I had to do every day as a tech professional. The browser lets you isolate cookie jars into color coded tabs so you can run multiple sessions with multiple accounts on the same web site. As @ramkumarhq pointed out, it's a solution that has many uses but we have tech professionals in mind when designing it: designers, developers, seo and social media marketers, QA testers. My co-founder (and wife) @CatKokoszka and I are happy to answer questions about it so Ask Us Anything!
Jamie Akers
I absolutely love this concept. As it's built on Chromium can I assume that the forked code is available somewhere? I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to inspect the source to confirm no gremlins have crept in there and it's a recent fork for security purposes.
Larry Kokoszka
@jamiequackers Thanks. Glad you like it! The code is not available for review, but there are no gremlins. The whole reason we built the browser is to help people get through their work day faster, so gremlins aren't really in our DNA. As far as security, our last core update was in May. We don't always patch everything right away because new Chromium code is not always stable. This is the way the Chrome team does it too.
Ishan
@larrykokoszka @catkokoszka Do you have plans for a Linux version? Does the Ghost browser support session management? Would love to see the quick command feature in Vivaldi https://www.producthunt.com/tech... integrated into the Ghost browser.
Larry Kokoszka
@ishu3101 Hi Ishan. Yes, we plan to release a Linux version. Windows 64-bit version is coming soon as well. We're validating the product right now, then we'll dig in on Linux. Ghost Browser does support session management. There's a 'now' answer and a 'coming soon' answer to this question. 1. Now, you can something like the Session Manager extension to save a session. When you re-open that session, those tabs will all open sharing the same cookie jar as the active tab. 2. In the very near future you'll be able to save "Projects" in Ghost. A project will be like a session, except it will also the multiple cookie jars you have running. In other words, you can log into Twitter with 5 different accounts, save that as a project, then just open that Project and you'll already be logged into them. We are actually currently hashing the details of how we will implement this, so if you have a particular use case you'd like us to consider, please chime in at feature-ideas@ghostbrowser.com. 3. In the far, far future, we'd like to open up our Ghost Groups API so extension developers can extend their extensions and apps to interact with the Ghost functionality. This will create the possibility for an extension developer like tirokea, the developer of Session Manager, to bake Ghost Group functionality into his extension natively.
Ishan
@larrykokoszka @ghostbrowser Currently, when you restore a saved session does it restore all the website you have visited in each tabs & windows or just the website you had currently open in each tabs & windows?
Larry Kokoszka
@ishu3101, I seem to have missed this question earlier, but here's the answer: We are currently in design phase for this feature of saving Projects to re-open whenever you want to pick up where you left off. It will be the focus of our next release cycle which starts in about a week. Currently, there is a work-around though. If you save the tabs you want to reopen into one Project or group to a bookmark folder, then you can select the option to open all tabs in a folder and select the group they go into. Here are two very short demo videos on how to do that, but the new Projects feature is going to be killer. Please make sure you are on the beta mailing list as we'll be asking for feedback on it when we have some sketches done: http://support.ghostbrowser.com/... http://support.ghostbrowser.com/...

@ishu3101 @ghostbrowser @larrykokoszka "We're validating the product right now, then we'll dig in on Linux." Any update on that? Ghost very directly addresses several annoyances of mine, using Chrome. Seeing as it's of particular use to developers and powers users and such, I would think a Linux version would be a somewhat higher priority that it's apparently been.
Ben Stacer
Granted, I've only been using the browser for about 10 minutes, but it's blazing fast. I don't even need to be signed into multiple social profiles, but I might make this my default browser if this speed keeps up.
Larry Kokoszka
@ben_stacer Awesome. Glad you're liking it. Thanks for posting.
Shane Kilkelly
Anyone know how much (if any) of the botnet stuff from Chrome remains in Ghost? Does Ghost phone-home to Google (or anyone else) with browsing history, user analysis, etc?
Larry Kokoszka
@shanekilkelly There are some services built in to Chromium that contact Google for things like auto-complete and warnings for potentially malicious sites. Because we are building a productivity tool, these features are important for most of our users. But you can turn them off if you would like in the privacy settings. If you are logged into your Google account in one Ghost Group, your results will also reflect the search history they have for you. You can open a new group, stay out of google and search independently of Google history though. This is one of the really nice features for SEO specialists. It's also a good one for people that want to search for airline flights without price discrimination. For more information on privacy, please see these support articles (http://support.ghostbrowser.com/...) or if you have a specific concern you can let us know here or through our support desk: http://ghostbrowser.com/contact/.
Shane Kilkelly
@larrykokoszka thanks, good to know!
Ian
I think it looks fantastic, but couldn't it be better to have tabs for each group in a dynamic bar adjacent to the bookmark bar that displays all tabs in the group when you click on the group tab? It's great as it is, but can quickly lead to a lot of tabs being displayed in one space. It would make better use of system resources if unused groups of 'sub-tabs' could be hidden and put to sleep, freeing up memory, until they are needed, even if that's just for a few minutes. Perhaps also save all open tabs states (including those sleeping) when the browser is quit and the computer is shutdown.
Larry Kokoszka
@ianmayman you've basically just written the spec for the "Projects" feature. It's in the works and will likely be our next release!
Sasha-Shae W
@larrykokoszka @ianmayman definitely looking forward to the Projects feature then, as I also had this request in mind on groups being a tad more dynamic. Nice!
Hadi Farnoud
Only if it had "always open" dev tools. it happens everytime to me, we find a bug, have to open dev tools to see what happened in XHR requests. because dev tools was not open, I can't see the request. it would be nice to have dev tools always track everything but at the same time be hidden in background.
Cat Kokoszka
@hadifarnoud Thanks for the suggestion, it's a good idea! I've added your feature request to our public feature request board. You can see it here: https://trello.com/c/jB324Moa/34... Stop by the board to give your idea a vote and see other feature ideas submitted by other users.
Hadi Farnoud
@catkokoszka thanks. It's THE feature everyone needs of a dev browser imho.
Cat Kokoszka
Hi, I'm Cat, one of the founders of Ghost Browser. In addition to all of my other roles, I currently manage five social media accounts, and Ghost Browser has been a major time-saver. When it comes to engaging with people on social, nothing beats the native experience, so I love having all of my accounts open across all platforms simultaneously, in one browser window. It saves me time and solves problems for me every day, and I'm thrilled to hear others are enjoying the browser as much as I am. My co-founder (and husband) @LarryKokoszka and I lead very active lives, so we love that Ghost Browser helps us get our jobs done faster so we can get out and enjoy life. Feel free to ask us any questions, and happy Ghost browsing!
Alain Lagrecque
This is a really nice simple idea, especially the colour coding for each cookie jar. Just signed up for the beta - look forward to taking it for a spin 😊
Larry Kokoszka
Thanks @alangarrec! I just bumped you up to the front of the line for the @Ghost_Browser beta!
Justin Copeland
Really like the sound of this. I often times find myself needing to switch to different Chrome accounts and it's never as fluid as I'd like. Signed up for beta so looking forward to testing it out.
Larry Kokoszka
@digijustin Thanks! I just sent you a note on how to get the @ghost_browser beta right away.
Justin Copeland
@larrykokoszka Thank you. Downloading now.
Lee Peterson
Any idea when the database issue will be resolved? A bit surprised by this.
Larry Kokoszka
@lee_peterson it's back up. Sorry for the interruption.
Nidhi V Shandilya
This is god sent. I remember reading about a similar product here a while ago but couldn't track it down. So glad that ghost browser appeared. @larrykokoszka would love it if you could move me up the list. One question though: can ghost browser be opened alongside chrome (and not cause any performance issues)? Your value prop is so compelling that I'm sold on just what you do (don't care about whether/how you compete on other browser functionalities with Chrome). Lastly, what I visualized when I read the description was an addin/plug in that will let me do what you promised on Chrome itself - that will be even better!
Larry Kokoszka
@nidhi_v_shandilya You can run Chrome and Ghost side by side yes. The idea is that you won't need Chrome, but it can certainly be done. We opted to build an entire browser instead of just an extension because extensions are limited in what they can do. A lot of small but critical features in browser would not be possible with just an extension.
Deekshith Allamaneni
Sounds similar to what Firefox calls it "Contextual identities". It is available in Firefox Nightly and hope it will be available in stable versions in the coming months: https://blog.mozilla.org/tanvi/2...
Larry Kokoszka
@adeekshith while there are some similarities, the differences are more control over the session-based experience. Contextual Identities help you separate work from life from banking from shopping and is great for people who divide their online activities into two or more of those categories. Ghost Browser is more about productivity. It lets you do whatever you want whilst logging in to multiple accounts from a single window...we make no assumptions about how you want to do this, as Mozilla has, and give you the tools to decide for yourself.
Yaakov Sash
This seems like a very useful tool. Because I haven't been able to find a good tool on Chrome for multi session, I've been forced to use FireFox with an extension instead (gasp!). But it wasn't nearly as functional. That said, I have a few questions before I jump in feet first. (Apologize if you answered these elsewhere) 1. Can I run this side-by-side with regular Chrome? 2. Does it work well with extensions such as Dashlane? 3. What will be your pricing model once you're out of beta?
Larry Kokoszka
@yaakovsash No worries, happy to answer. 1. Yes, you can run it side by side - no issues there. 2. It works with most extensions. Dashlane only works out of the box with Chrome, IE, Firefox (they haven't even made Opera compatible) but using these instructions you can get it to work on Ghost too. https://getsatisfaction.com/dash... 3. Good question. If you know the answer let us know...we're not there. Still just trying to build it out in the most useful way possible. Philosophically we think ad based products create distractions that are not in line with our primary goal: to make our users more productive. That's our starting point.
Preben Frenning
I rarely get endorphines from thinking about a BROWSER. This time I did. And I really don't understand why this hasn't been a thing for the last few years. Really looking forward to start using it!
Larry Kokoszka
@preben_frenning Whoa! That's awesome. Please tweet the endorphins bit to all of your friends! :) Thanks Real.
Loren Davie
@larrykokoszka It looks like the MacOS binary isn't signed. My security prefs (which are default, I believe) won't run the app, saying it's an unknown developer. I then was about to click through to your support forum when I got a big HTTPS broken warning from Chrome. That gave me some pause. Perhaps you could address these issues?
Larry Kokoszka
@lorendavie This is fixed in the next version, coming out this week. We just missed a couple of files in signing. It's worked out now though. Thanks for the note.
Pierre Rojas
Bravo, the first 30 seconds experience was awesome! This is definitely what I need since I manage 5 Facebook Accounts
Larry Kokoszka
@pierre_ro Awesome! I hope the next 30 seconds also went well. BTW next month we'll have a "Projects" feature so you can fire up all five of those accounts with one click and be logged into each one.
Pierre Rojas
@larrykokoszka I'm loving it :) Thank you for making this. Had a terrible hassle to manage a lot of accounts before. This saved me a lot of trouble daily :)
Pierre Rojas
@larrykokoszka I also sent you a LinkedIn Connection Request. :)
Ty Briscoe

Great tool for testing my chrome extension.

Pros:

Ease of use; multiple tabs.

Cons:
