Why products that were not featured on the launch date are so hard to access?

I just had a launch that wasn't featured and must say it's a bit disheartening experience. I have existing customers who showed up with love and support ❤️ keeping us on top of the "not-featured" list. But apart from them, not many people have a chance to see other launching products at the moment.

  • We were #9, but if you browse the featured products, the "Launched today" ends on the last featured one - #8.

  • The front page shows only the featured ones - there was a "Show more launching products" button, but it disappeared at some point.

  • The launching today page again displays only featured products and you need to know to click "All" to see more. It's the only place where you can see the other ones.

So you can build momentum however you want, but as long as the editorial team doesn't give you a green light, you won't get noticed.

I understand there are lots of products launching at the same time, but it would be nice, if the playing field would be a little bit leveled, so that products that didn't cut into featured section still had some chance to get noticed and compete with the "big boys".

Hey @staminapl thank you for your comments. We appreciate the feedback.

About the "All" button dissapearing, that shouldn't happen! Next time it does, please, get in touch with us at hello@producthunt.com and we will take a look for you to see if we can solve that.

About Access to the unfeatured section: I believe the difference between featured and unfeatured content is clear. How can we improve it further?

About featuring: We strive to showcase the best of the best every day, and we receive hundreds of submissions daily! It can be challenging to make standout launches shine, and I understand that not being featured can be disheartening. However, it's important to remember that this is a common experience for most launches. Most creators do not get featured on their first attempt! That’s why we offer the option to relaunch after six months, or even sooner if the product undergoes significant upgrades. Rest assured, we test every submission and make decisions based on our experience. We often engage in internal discussions to reach a consensus about what appears on our homepage!

Once again, thanks for the comment, and feel free to keep asking questions :)

@juan I understand the concept of being featured. I just think it would be nice to give more chances to those other products.

For example, if you open previous launches on mobile, there's no way to see all at all. And on desktop the switch is a small Featured / All text above the table. Why not have a button at the bottom like on the front page - "see all launches"?

Another thing is, that there's no way to navigate to other launches beyond the featured ones with the Previous/Next navigation. It's like the launches that were not featured never happened. Why not allow navigation along the whole ranking?

@staminapl With desktop, you mean in the launch archive? Homepage in desktop browser should always display the "see all today's products" button at the bottom of the featured list

@juan yes, the launch archive. There's no switch to All on mobile. And on desktop it's a bit hidden. A button at the bottom is how you expand most lists on PH, so I think it would be natural to use a button there as well.

The button you refer to was on the front page, but I think after midnight (my time - CEST) it disappeared - when there was still 9 hours to go.
