๐ก When is the right time to raise investment for a SaaS startup? ๐ฐ
Hey Product Hunt fam ๐
Would love to hear your take on this,
As a SaaS founder, I'm constantly thinking about growth vs. sustainability.
Thereโs a lot of advice out there, but I'm curious about your real-world experiences.
๐ When did YOU feel it was the right time to raise funding?
๐ What metrics, traction, or signals made you feel confident to approach investors?
๐ Or did you decide to bootstrap all the way and why?
Especially for SaaS, timing feels everything.
Too early = you lose equity before product-market fit.
Too late = you might miss the growth window.
Would really appreciate any wisdom, stories, or even hard lessons youโve learned ๐
Letโs help each other build better.

Since you already have your product out, it would make sense to raise funding once you are sure that you have reached PMF.

@rajeshsolanki Thanks Rajesh.
I have seen different combinations work. For some, upfront investment has given very fast growth (where the investor not only had deep pockets but also good connects).
Some others, who rushed into raising investment, got a raw deal which they lamented .
Still others bootstrapped all the way and went straight for the exit option and got a very good deal.
Put in 1 line- Evaluate IIP (Ideal investor profile e.g. connects vs money, freedom vs control and more) which might change at each stage and then take the decision. Also depends on your personal situation

@manu_goel2 Thanks for sharing this makes a lot of sense. I like how you broke it down. it really does come down to who the investor is, not just the money. And yeah, personal situation plays a big role too something people donโt talk about enough. Appreciate the thoughtful take.
