🧨 When Firebase, GCP & AWS go down at once, it’s a reminder of how fragile the internet really is

Today’s outages (Firebase, GCP, AWS, Cloudflare, etc.) weren’t just isolated blips, they exposed how deeply interdependent our tools and infra have become.

When core providers stumble, the ripple effect crushes hundreds of products instantly. No deploys, no logins, no analytics, no tests — just waiting.

Curious how you all think about this:

- Are you actively building for redundancy or just hoping these giants hold?

- Anyone here actually using multi-cloud in prod?

- How do you explain this fragility to non-technical teams/investors?

Would love to hear your thoughts and if this changed how you think about your stack.

I know it's really like a house of cards. Like the recent data breaches I feel like people are getting used to these tech giants stumbling. What are the alternatives? It's tricky, I wouldn't want to go back to self hosting with really expensive internal server setups and what not.

I think some amount of redundancy is required. At what stage you go for it and for what will depend on the stakes. Multi-cloud for redundancy -- probably going too far but again 'stakes'. Have to be upfront about this risk but with the probability percentage. By the way, life is uncertain too :)
