How would you build the "perfect (personal) news feeds" tool? Or there's an AI saving you already?

Hey Product Hunt family!

Wanna hear your thoughts on tools for news feeds or news digest!

I guess one way to put this is: if you're a time traveler zapped to 2025, and your news feed is a total disaster - clickbait, recycled stories, and none of the topics you love. Could an AI-powered news tool save your sanity?

Some questions for example:

  • How would you craft the ultimate news feed?

  • Would you build a sleek AI app to filter the noise?

  • Rally fans on X to spread the word?

  • Maybe aggregate all relevant sources on super specific niche topics that you care?

  • Have an AI assistant to record sources you like under a certain topic?

  • Put personal weights to different sources?

  • Have your (AI) assistant summarize and filter out the essence and pitched to you daily?

What's the dream tool like? Or who's already killing it?

Buzzing to hear your brilliant ideas!

Inviting some interesting community members whom I've been secretly stocking🤣 Wanna hear your pain points & ideal (super personalized) news feeds! @busmark_w_nika@chrismessina @benln @aaronoleary

I have my own list of sources of news (literally 5 websites from where I get information) and work this way every day. Having a system like that is gold! :D

Sophia L.

@busmark_w_nika Wow! One of them must be product hunt!🤣

Do you mind sharing other websites you visit daily? (You don't have to!!!)

Do you have influencers/KOLs/reviewers as your sources?

Nika

@sophiaatdola Usually X, TechCrunch and some local Slovak sites :D :)

Sophia L.

@busmark_w_nika Cooooool!!! Are the local Slovak sites in Slovak? (Or English)

I think best would be for any LLM to gather news on the topic i am interested and then email me it with a link to audio clip summarizing all the stuff

By the way you can check my little product which i launch today (100% free) : free-home-estate-documents-generator

@bobbydarkish  Interesting Marek! When it comes to news, do you mostly follow general headlines or really dig into specialized topics? Like, would you rather read broad US real estate news or local Bay Area market discussions, sales trends, and expert commentary ?

Also curious if you check news daily or weekly? Have any favorite sources you always turn to?

(Supported your launch!)

@sophiaatdola i would scroll on YT for the recommended and sibscribed

Sophia L.

@bobbydarkish Cool! So your major source for news/info is video platform right? Interesting!

Marek Paps

@sophiaatdola imho people become lazy more and more , so their main source of info become tiktok short content + yt long vids (usually those adviced by platform) that they can run in backround when they drive will win. just my opinion.

I’d do three things: Ask what you like topics, sources, people, or formats (videos, articles, tweets). Use AI to learn your habits what you read, skip, or spend time on. Keep it fresh and balanced mix your favorites with new or diverse viewpoints so it’s not just at echo chamber.

honestly, I've been dreaming of a personal news feed that actually understands my vibe. Right now, I use a mix of Google Alerts, Twitter Lists, and Feedly, but it still feels patchy.

Sophia L.

@debra_salt Oh my god. So true. But Google Alerts kind of get me crazy. It's like too sensitive. I don't know if it's just me?

Feedly!!!

Yeah it's still a lot of place to go ti🤔

I'll answer this too:

My answer for (a part of) this as an example: I'm using Perplexity's "notification" on finance & sports, but I cannot get notifications on all the topics I've searched for (which I still need to follow on a daily/weekly basis).

Also, the "social" switch in perplexity puts a heavy weight on Reddit, and it does not gather sources on many other social media platforms and newsletters I read.

I've also looked into all relevant tools (news feeds) on Product Hunt, but I cannot seem to find one that properly aggregates all relevant sources throughout different channels I read: news media, trending topics related to keywords I care, key influencers' social media outlets, newsletters, blogs, podcasts.

Honestly, @Artifact was nearly perfect, or at least directionally was hitting all the right notes. Alas.

Not I'm enjoying @Particle quite a bit as a replacement.

Surf.social has the right idea when it comes to multiplexing all the various sources — but it still needs a bit of refinement to win me over.
