Founders, how did your startup team come together?
Once I started building Lifetoon, I found myself talking to more and more founders and early-stage builders, trying to learn from their experiences, mistakes, and aha moments.
One thing that really stuck with me was how random and unpredictable the early team formation often is. I kept hearing all these great stories - from serendipitous events that sparked the idea, to unexpected ways founders met, to funny coincidences around how their first hires happened.
In our case, I still find it funny (and a bit odd) that one of my co-founders and I grew up on the same street, in the same neighborhood, in the same city, but never actually met - until 3 months ago, when we connected through a student leadership community. She had posted there saying she was looking for a CMO. Fast-forward to today, and here we are building Lifetoon together.
So I’m curious, how did your team come together?
Any surprising twists, coincidences, or fun stories behind it?

Wow, same neighborhood but never met life really waited for the plot twist! In my case, I met my co-founder during a customer support ticket. I was trying out his side project and I just kept chatting. Turns out I shared similar frustrations with existing tools and one thing led to another.
@fatima_sarki wow, I would've never thought a customer support call could lead to this - looove your story!
I've known my team for as long as I can remember, went to same primary and high schools, then to same university. It's kind of strange.. but then again I'm also a solo founder 😝
@tracker_3 lots of time left for a coincidence to happen 👀
Reconnected with a college friend during COVID on a game night zoom. By week two we were already wireframing what's now our product.
@chioma_nzomiwu nothing like a random reconnecting moment when both of you are on the same page 💪
