As a founder, how to get started on X/Twitter?
I joined X last week as an effort to try out the whole founder led growth / build in public thing.
At first it seemed exciting. There are a lot of very interesting people there and I find it easy to produce “good enough” content and be consistent with it.
But a week in I haven’t gotten a single follower, comment or like. The views on my posts are also super low.
So yes, I’m in that spot where I don’t know what I don’t know. Actually there is too much I don’t know.
So dear reader, if you have any tips or suggestions on how to get going (or simply why I should just drop the effort) they’d be much appreciated, even if it’s just sharing what’s worked for you.
Thanks in advance!

X(Twitter) is no longer a good platform to gain followers naturally. Due to Elon's payment policy, millions of bot accounts have been created and the same content has been shared continuously.
You need to constantly advertise with large pages etc. to gain followers there. Naturally, it is very difficult to produce viral content and reach non-bot accounts. I would say that Facebook groups and Instagram are even easier than X to gain followers.
@rodrigo_soviero I recommend starting with "Fail in Public" and "Build in Public". There're lots of nice folks
Then you'll meet other larger accounts

I hear you. The start of building in public can feel really quiet and discouraging. One week is still early, though. It often takes more time for people to notice and start engaging. Consistency matters, but so does connection.
What helped me was commenting on other posts, replying to interesting threads, and being genuinely curious about what others are working on. It made people more likely to check out my profile and respond to my content.
You're already doing the hardest part, which is showing up. Keep going a bit longer before deciding to quit. Sometimes the momentum kicks in when you least expect it.

@rodrigo_soviero Glad I could help!

I find that nowadays people interact more with video. Every morning I’d spend 10 mins genuinely engaging with 5 creators in my space—commenting on their progress and celebrating small wins. Folks started recognizing my handle and swung by my profile.
Like X says when you login first, it has limited your reach until you have engaged enough. Once you do that, you will get a new notification saying you can now reach more people.
People say subbed accounts get more views and as someone else mentioned, commenting on others is a good hack. Personally, I just post on the side weekly. These are things we can't expect to get results instantly.
@rodrigo_soviero X can be difficult with new users. We now face problems of accounts being suspended for allegedly having "inauthentic interaction " How they come to that conclusion is beyond me. The trouble is that suspended accounts aren't automatically unsubbed. Its so weird. Companies wish to have people like you that sub and forget. Some entrepreneurs went so far as to build products to track all subscriptions.
Personally, I'm quite conscious of my international transactions. They come with an advancetax of 10% along with 4% transaction fee. So simply donating to the World Food Program adds more than I donated. It's so strange though. I spend all this money on junk food and yet, I'm super careful with card payments.
on X or somewhere else??
@max_streichert thanks for the comment Max. Indeed we got some valuable insights here :)
Hmm… I actually ran into the same issue. It didn’t work as well as I hoped, so I’ve had to put it on hold for now due to lack of time. If you find a good way to make it work, please share it with me too!
What is your goal? what type of followers you are after? I guess its mainly depends on that, and there is some much noise as many looking for attention.
