Anyone else struggling to track costs when using multiple AI services in your automations?
Hey Product Hunt community!
I've been building some increasingly complex automations lately across different platforms (Make.com, n8n, Zapier) that connect multiple AI services together. While the technical side works beautifully, I'm hitting a major pain point: figuring out how much each automation actually costs to run.
When a single workflow might call OpenAI for content generation, Claude for a more nuanced response, and perhaps Eleven Labs for voice synthesis - I have no easy way to connect my monthly AI bills back to specific workflows or business functions.
I find myself constantly asking:
Is that customer support automation costing me $0.10 or $2.00 per run?
Which AI service in my workflow is driving most of the cost?
Could I save money by switching one AI model for another without sacrificing quality?
I've tried hacky solutions like logging usage data to spreadsheets, but it's becoming unsustainable as my automation stack grows.
To solve my own frustration, I built a simple dashboard tool AIBillingDashboard that helps me see all my AI spending in one place and connect it back to specific automations.
But I'm genuinely curious about YOUR experiences:
How are you currently tracking costs across multiple AI services in your automations?
Is this even a pain point for you, or am I overthinking it?
What would your ideal cost tracking solution look like?
I'm also exploring the concept of platform-specific cost analyzers (e.g., one that connects directly to Make or n8n) to provide more detailed insights. Would something like that be valuable to you?
This isn't a pitch - I'm genuinely trying to understand if others are struggling with the same problem and what kind of solution would actually help.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Additionally, I recently made a post on IndieHackers displaying what I shipped recently if you're interested!

Tyler, it's definitely a challenge! Juggling costs across different AI platforms for each automated workflow can quickly become complex. What methods are you currently experimenting with to get a clearer picture of your AI spend? Perhaps a well-structured spreadsheet, or are you looking into more sophisticated tools? On a lighter note, I hope you have an easier time managing your Eggy Car.
