Medium or custom blog?

I'm thinking about to start creating content for the company blog and looking at what is the best way to do - use medium or create own blog. With medium, I can start almost immediately and it's already SEO friendly. Or make an effort to develop own. Has anyone come across this issue? Can you advise something?

My take on that: if the content benefits the broader community and has a potential to be shared - post it on the outside network, e.g. Medium. If the content benefits more the users of your product and the potential users of your product who might be interested in learning more about you - post it on your blog, under your domain name. In general I see Medium as another long-form SEO-friendly *social media* channel, so that's why the strategy described above makes sense to me.
