The branding is so mysterious. π
People used to be so cautious sharing their identity online, concealing them behind usernames and personas. Facebook is largely responsible for shifting to a more personal, identity-based Internet. I draw interest to products that go against the popular trend.
Where did the idea first come from, @moshehogeg?
@rrhoover one of my good friends told me that his favorite holiday is Halloween because he can put on a mask and be really him, without thinking what people think... so basically every one of us has many different personas inside, I felt that because when I write my opinion about things I always need to think 10 times because of who will read them, what will be the effect etc...
@rrhoover@moshehogeg I agree that these approaches are interesting β but they rarely seem to take off (witness: Secret, Google+, Persona, Just.me, Ello, etc).
I like the design of the site β but who is this aesthetic/design ultimately targeted to? Chic techie hipster wannabes? I don't wanna h8, I just wanna understand the thought process here, and which set of people the creators are intending to use this.
@chrismessina good notes, in the end I don't think that the question is whether there's a need but more a question of execution, I see it as an interesting experiment and we trying different social structure to be better then the ones you've mentioned, please give it a try and tell me what you think
@moshehogeg@shoemates I think it's awesome you're taking another stab at it. Oftentimes it's just about timing β and right now might be the right moment for this. I was just curious if there's a specific set of people that you hope will use/benefit from the multiple persona feature.
Each of us in our lives have different personas - you are a different person with your friends, your family, your partner. However, the social networks we use today do not allow for these small tweaks and distinctions in our personality. Theyβre pretty flat, and donβt enable the spectrum and depth of our different personalitie. Galaxia allows us the freedom to express all our different personas.
Been playing with this a little bit today, and so far I like it!
@moshehogeg , Obviously the hardest thing for new social networking platforms is user adoption; what are your plans to tackle this? What makes Galaxia different that will convince users to stick with it?
@dancyfits that's a very hard question, for now we will focus on analyze and optimize retention and referrals, once we'll be happy with them we will focus on growth
The web site is truly amazing. I love the app's idea, and the UX is perfect. Looking forward to see what will be of this. Good luck @moshehogeg and the team :)
The website is amazing - mysteriously beautiful as @rrhoover said! But the tweet button merely has 'Galaxia - Persona-lized Social Networks' as a tweet. The link is probably missing...
I love the website. It pulled me in instantly. I am downloading the App now to play around it. Again, great work on the site. Like @ryanhoover said, the branding is so mysterious! My weird persona is intrigued. :)
I had a similar idea when I first launched my company "Stagename" . Glad to see something executed though. The website looks really cool.. well done, but a little bit scary, or at least it speaks to a certain persona and took me a while to see if it was for me.
Amazing branding. Πystic, dark, strange. It really makes newcomers curious about what it is. The visual concept definitely works as it is supposed to. Great job on this side. Can't wait for the Android version to give it a try.
This reminds me of http://gatchaman.wikia.com/wiki/..., "GALAX utilizes gamification, a concept in which video game mechanics such as achievements and points are applied to real world uses to make people more efficient and productive through positive reinforcement."
