Product Hunt doesn’t provide filters for its product lists, which makes it hard to find the products you actually care about. This extension makes it easier to remove irrelevant products so you can focus only on what matters to you.

PS. I really had a hard time looking for products other than AIs. That's why I created this to filter those out for my personal use.

Nika

Does it filter products within a single category? What if I want to see products from a specific category? Wouldn't it be easier to enter the category name so it filters and shows me those products? Because right now, as I understand it, when you enter a category, those products are actually removed. Or did I get that wrong?

Alec Blance

Hi @busmark_w_nika ,

Yes, those products will be removed, since we don't want to see them in our feed. If you'd like to view apps from a single category, I think it's better to use Product Hunt's category list instead.

Filtro is most useful when you want to see apps from all categories except certain ones (e.g., Artificial Intelligence).

Thanks!

Nika

@alecblance I think that I am doing something wrong, I typed the tag and it didn't filter it.

Alec Blance

@busmark_w_nika Thanks for testing it!

- Have you refreshed the page after putting the tag?

Nika

@alecblance Aaaa, okay, now it works. I didn't realise that it is applied after refreshing. I expected automatic filtering.

Alec Blance

Hey@busmark_w_nika ,

I've bumped the version of Filtro to include your use case. Feel free to test it. Thanks!

Well done on the plugin, it's very easy to use. At the moment its focussed on what people don't want to see, but there are instead a few items I particularly want to see. This is could be really super useful to me, but actually the other way round! I really need to keep on top of products in AI, Design, UX and prototyping if I could somehow apply a filter and zoom down the dailies to make sure I didn't miss anything that would be rad. Also if the items were already populated as pills in the extension it would be very convenient.

Alec Blance

@kevin_mcdonagh1 Thanks a lot for the feedback! That idea is also gaining traction. I'll add the option to include only specific categories in the next version. Stay tuned, Kevin. It's coming soon! 🚀

Alec Blance

Hey @kevin_mcdonagh1 ,

I've updated the version to 1.1.0, it includes your use case. Feel free to test it anytime.

Kevin McDonagh

@alecblance That's service! Absolutely great. I think you should put a toggle switch on it as well for on/off so I don't need to keep putting on and off the plugin because it removes most functionality from the rest of the website.

Alec Blance

@kevin_mcdonagh1 Thanks!

I'll add that on the next version after my work. Thank you for your suggestions!

This looks great 👍. Could you also provide a Firefox version of the plugin? I mainly use Linux, and Firefox is my primary browser at work.

Alec Blance

@bca5 Yup, it is still in review. Firefox team is kinda slow in reviewing 😂 I've already submitted 2 versions.

Alec Blance

@bca5 Hello! Firefox team really took some time, but here is the firefox version of Filtro.

Aryan

smart solution! do you have plans for mobile browsing?

Alec Blance

@arynvtsa I'll have a look into that if I can pull such feat.

Cruise Chen

No way, finally someone made it easy to hide all the AI stuff—realy been wanting this! Makes scrolling Product Hunt way less overwhelming, fr.

Alec Blance

@cruise_chen 😊 Enjoy!

Anton Loss

Well, one can argue that lack of filters was intentional, but I'm always on the side of "empowering users", so congrats on the great product! Good Luck with future versions.

DIERUI ZHENG

This actually brilliant! Congrats on the launch!

Alec Blance

@dierui_zheng Thank you!

Hanna Z

Effect filterring for booming info. with AI is purely important nowadays. Thx for saving some lives!!

Alec Blance

@hanna_z You're welcome! 😊

Andrew Jameson

Finally! My feed is no longer 90% AI tools 😂 Filtering out crypto/design spam in one click? Genius. This just saved my morning scroll. Keep iterating!

Alec Blance

@andrew_jameson111 Enjoy! 😊

David Bacelj
Actually have been looking for this, great idea!
Alec Blance

@david_bacelj2 Thanks! 😊

Sohaib.K

@alecblance Makes sense now! An include/exclude toggle could make it even better. Still, love how Filtro cuts through the noise.

Alec Blance

@sohaib_csk Thanks!

I will consider that in the next update

Alec Blance

Hello guys 👋

I just finished the new version 🚀 I'm just waiting for the Google Chrome Web Store to review and publish it ⏳. Hope you'll love it ❤️

Below is the result of showing only the "Music" tagged products 🎵

Sometimes you might notice that the products you previously filtered are still there after reopening Filtro, or when you access your browser from another device, you don't have those filters on. I'm adding a fix for this in the next version 1.2.2. I apologize for this overlooked issue! 😟🙏
