Do you think AI will replace recruiters in 6 months?

My LinkedIn feed has been a complete warzone - recruiters having existential crises, HR scrambling to "AI-proof" their jobs.

This feels like classic "AI will replace [insert job]" panic. But recruitment isn't just screening resumes and scheduling calls.

There is no doubt that AI crushes grunt work (parsing applications, basic screening, sourcing, scheduling)

But the best, experienced recruiters can handle the nuanced stuff - hybrid work negotiations, unique compensation packages, reading between the lines when candidates have gaps or complex situations.

Recruiters: What part of your job is actually irreplaceable? And up to what degree would you be okay with automating the manual work?

Everyone else: Would you trust AI to make final hiring decisions?

Six months feels aggressive, but we're definitely at an inflection point.

Probably not entirely. We should still have recruiters conduct the actual interviews and maybe utilize AI during onboarding.

@ricalgmn do you think it will affect entry-level recruiters specifically?

@aishwaryalohi I think they'll feel it first, yes. The procedural tasks are easy for AI to handle. They could then focus on the human-centered roles if AI picks up on the grunt work.

Most of the grunt work is indeed automated, but the value lies in the human touch and recruiters need to develop skills beyond just screening resumes. LinkedIn's AI is useful, but it's no substitute for human intuition.

@adi_singh5 yes. Have you tried any LinkedIn AI features?

I don't see AI replacing recruiters anytime soon. I think hiring is a deeply personal thing that AI is not even close to solving for yet. I think another factor is how many resumes are submitted to a lot of job listings. Some get thousands, so I think AI can be a great tool to find the best candidate, but the final decision should always be made by a human.

Great post, Aishwarya
I agree AI can definitely take over the repetitive tasks and make recruitment more efficient . But the human element understanding emotions, context, and complex candidate situations is still hard to replace.

I think AI should be seen as a partner, not a replacement. Automate the busywork, sure but final hiring decisions still need human judgment, at least for now.

I don’t think so
