Camtasia online is the only free, web-based screen recorder that combines stylish templates, dynamic backgrounds, and effortless collaboration—all with no watermarks.
We are excited to introduce Camtasia online, a free screen recorder that offers stylish templates, dynamic backgrounds, and seamless collaboration—all without a watermark! It's perfect for creating tutorials, presentations, or sharing content with friends. Record, edit, and share effortlessly. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
For decades, we’ve delivered market-leading screen capture, image, video and audio editing products, but we’ve always desired to have a way to make video creation more approachable, fun, and collaborative.
With Camtasia online, we’re providing a completely free way to bring others along with you into the world of video creation. With our first version of Camtasia online, we are solving 3 issues with video creation products in the market.
Getting started with a new, installed desktop product is time consuming
We made Camtasia online run completely in your browser, enabling you to jump in and start creating without the friction of downloading and installing something
Video creation is intimidating and requires knowledge of “what looks good”
We give you the ability to see what you’ll get before you even press record, and provide a library of what we call “Looks”; premade designs for your video content that you can choose between (or customize) with a single click
Collaborating on video creation is painful
We built Camtasia online as a collaborative video editor from the ground up. Everything you do immediately updates for all of your collaborators, and you can work together in real-time as you record, edit, and share your content
We also built deep integrations with our other products, Screencast (for creating shareable links you can provide to others to view your creations in Camtasia online), and Camtasia Editor, our powerful, market leading screen capture and video editing product (to enable further editing of the screen, system audio, camera and mic, background, effects, and more...nothing is ever flattened!).
And this is just the start. We have major plans for Camtasia online in the months and years to come, and we’ll be listening closely to your feedback to help us build the best product possible.
Over the past six months, I’ve had the chance to use the Camtasia online web app for collaborative presentations, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite ways to create engaging videos for internal audiences. It’s fast, intuitive, and makes teamwork effortless.
When I need more editing power, I can easily download the shared project into the Camtasia desktop app to take advantage of advanced editing tools and effects.
Camtasia online is a wonderful first step towards collaborative video creation. I can easily make remarkable content with a team of people. Being able to see progress, tone, and look'n'feel from my team as the video develops is wonderful. Then, I can bring the content back down into the full desktop experience with Camtasia Editor to handle the finishing touches. Internal share-outs have never been easier!
Camtasia online makes it easy to collect recordings from others, such as capturing SME knowledge, customer testimonials, or team contributions for a project share out. Simply invite collaborators to the project and Camtasia online does the rest! It saves a lot of time and effort from not having to wrangle files. Contributors don't have to install anything, they just follow the invite link and record screen, camera, and microphone (or any combination) in the browser with ease.
I love Camtasia but they're now a subscription based app for their desktop software. I just can justify that for the few project per year that I do. The free online version is great. I wish I could add Markers while recording like the older Camtasia Recorder enabled.
At first glance I really like it. I coach companies (sales teams) on how to create engaging video. I "really like" the templates that include nice frames and borders. Good functionality for recording camera and screen. Here is what I " really love" - Creating scenes (this is big), recording a ppt slide one at a time and sharing projects and saving as a Camtasia project! This could be a great tool for working with my remote clients, getting them to record bits and pieces, A/B testing content with teams, and invite me to coach and take the final project right into my Camtasia to add music and branding. My feature request is: Needs an upload video function.
Now give me a mobile app and a referral partner link :) and we are good to go!
Great product to create videos in a collaborative manner.
Super easy to get started, everything is in the browser. No need to install anything.
Easy to invite collaborators and everyone can record their own scenes. We can also see each others scenes and review them before exporting the video. I am also able to edit my peers scenes to make sure all the video is following the same template.
Such a useful tool! I've always enjoyed using other online collaborative editors like google docs, but having an option like this for video creation is great. Also nice that it's free :)
I have been using Camtasia since 2013 and welcome this free screen recorder. Camtasia 2025 is a great product and has a ton of great features. But sometimes I do not need all the features, I just want to capture a short clip from whatever I am watching or doing. I still want to capture the actions I am making on my screen, but a screen print is not really enough. Once I have captured the immediate actions, I can then edit the video in the full version of Camtasia to add annotations, backgrounds, callouts, voice over and all the other features Camtasia offers. Way to go Camtasia team.
The first team screen recorder from a vendor with thirty years of experience in the field.
Worth a look for attractive screen recording videos for simple training, team status updates or quick communication. The nice thing is being able to have others add content to your video dynamically. Plus it’s free. No fine print.
@thomas_hadley I'm sorry to hear that you're running into problems. What device are you using to access Camtasia online? Creating and recording in Camtasia online requires a desktop web browser. If that doesn't resolve the issue, feel free to reach out to our support team at the link below. Thanks!
I've had the desktop version since 2005. I always buy programs that I have on my PC/Laptop. That way I can work whether I'm online or not. Other programs switched from download to Desktop to Online, and I quit all of them.

Camtasia online is what happens when you stop settling for one-take-and-pray video tools.
Not a Loom clone. Not a Figma-for-video fantasy. This is design-first recording with full creative control—before, during, and after you hit record.
Pick your look up front. Change it later. Drop in layouts, backgrounds, effects—and tweak every piece like it was always meant to be edited.
When it’s time to go deeper? Just a full multitrack handoff to Camtasia Editor—a killer desktop NLE known for being powerful and actually usable.
Scene by scene. Layer by layer. Fully editable. Fully alive. Zero compromises.
Oh—and it’s built for teams. Invite someone, let them record, then jump in and make it all match like you planned it.
It’s the tool Canva would build—if they actually edited video.

Excellent product to create videos collaboratively with co-workers!
This is a game changer! So easy to use, easy to collaborate, and the available video effects are great to compile an appealing video.
