Great stuff guys! This solves a real problem, even with vibe coding doing simple coding or querying takes time, precious developer time. But I think the best thing is that this lets non-technical team members directly interact with the data, so they can find insights that we wouldn't have otherwise. Trying it out.

Lars Karbo

@lars_vagnes thanks! the biggest unlock in the teams we have onboarded is that non-technical people go and ask things about the data. let me know how it goes!

Lars Karbo

Hi Product Hunt!

If your team uses Metabase or other data tools, you know the drill: non-technical colleagues constantly ping developers for "quick" data pulls. Developers get interrupted. Everyone waits hours (or days) for simple answers.

We built Bilbo to fix this.

Bilbo is an AI Chrome extension that sits on top of Metabase. Install it and start asking data questions in plain English. No SQL knowledge required!

How it works:

  • Ask questions like "Which customers haven't placed any orders in the last 90 days?"

  • Bilbo analyzes your data structure and builds the perfect query

  • You get a visual chart or table in <10 seconds ⚡️

  • That's it! No SQL, no waiting, no developer interruptions

What users love:

🤓 Zero learning curve - If you can ask a question, you can use Bilbo!

💪 Empowers non-technical team members - No coding or database knowledge needed

📊 Visual answers - Get charts and tables, not just raw data

🔧 Easy setup - Install extension, log into Metabase, start asking questions

🧠 Shared team context - One team member can customize the context for everyone

Product managers, salespeople, and support agents get instant answers. Developers stay focused on building. Everyone makes faster data-driven decisions.

We've been using Bilbo internally and shared it with friends at other companies. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so we wanted to share it for everyone to try!

Exciting stuff!! Big fan. Happy paying user here!

Lars Karbo

@coolastekatten love to hear it! thanks

Wow, querying Metabase with just plain English? That’s insanely smart—no more SQL headaches for me lol. Real gamechanger, fr. You folks nailed it!

Youssef Abdelwahed

interesting idea, seems moving in the direction of the future of data querying (with natural language), especially for data and business intelligence teams. Congrats for the launch.

Lars Karbo

@youssef_abdelwahed i think very soon, all users will expect apps to have some kind of natural language chat interface. ESPECIALLY data products. its such an obvious use-case and value add for AI

Did metabase ever get google analytics 4 support?

Lars Karbo

@sentry_co i never realized you could connect google analytics to metabase actually! i have just used it with data warehouses (postgres, clickhouse, etc...)

André J

@larskarbo Seems like it has support now yes. Just tap connect and pick the GA4 account and property. neat! I always wanted to prompt my GA4 data!

Bilbo is the GOAT, it has completely transformed the way I work with data. It leveled up my entire workflow, drastically improving efficiency and cutting the time I spend figuring things out by over 90%.

It’s incredibly helpful for visualization, understanding complex datasets, and making accurate assessments.

Lars Karbo

@pedro_monte thanks you so much!

Ajitesh
love that you have such engaging UX for deeply boring part of my work - quering logs and db :)
OpenQase

Congrats on the launch. Curious how you decided on the Chrome Extension route versus harnessing an MCP? Or conversely, are you concerned that the bulk of the chat apps will have direct access to Metabase soon via MCP? Assuming you've nailed the user experience for the average business user? :)

Lars Karbo

@openqase

we chose a chrome extension because it makes it super easy to get started. just download the extension and you can use it!

Ben Gillin

Lars, this is great. I know Bilbo will save a ton of time for data driven decisions. Good work!

Lars Karbo

thanks @bengillin !

Jacobi Lange

This is awesome if I'm understanding correctly.

TLDR: With bilbo I can "talk to a database" essentially?

Is there somewhere I can read any technical documentation?

This is so cool!

Cobi Bean

Yikes. $199/mo.?

This is an amazing product but what justifies such a high price point? I'm sure it's justified.
