What innovations do you think Apple will come up with in the coming years? Expectations vs. reality

Last time we talked about Apple and its chances of gaining dominance in AI.

Many agreed that Apple:

– excels in hardware,

– has the funds to experiment,

– improves on existing ideas rather than inventing them first.

Now, I am reading that their "innovation" will be creating a slightly thicker body of the new iPhone.

To be honest, I cannot spot any major benefit that would somehow help users.

What kind of innovations would you welcome from Apple that could improve users' lives?

I am eagerly awaiting even just the next Apple Watch. I will be curious if on a software front they can win over our personal ai companion subscriptions by building a data lake model for each user and honoring it.

@howell4change TBH, have never had a chance to try them, but they look exactly elegant. The thing is, I couldn't wear such a pricy watch cause I am not very cautious and break things easily (I train with heavy weights a lot and am used to damaging my wearables and accessories) :D

Apple's strategy has always been not to be first to market, but to enter an existing category with a product that is seamless and redefines that market, just as they did with the iPod, iPhone and Apple Watch.

On that note, I think the biggest potential lies in the Apple Vision Pro and making it a mass market product.

@d_ferencha But for now, there is no huge adoption and honestly cannot imagine that people will wear them. I find it kind of impractical. Let's take iPhone, iPod, etc... they were adopted very quickly.

@busmark_w_nika R&D for Vision Pro has reached tens of billions of dollars in costs, so I imagine that practical application and mass production are just around the corner.
Remote factory work seems like a good example of practical application.

@d_ferencha I could imagine it in the education sector (e.g. simulating medicine cases).

And you mentioned "costs". But costs and revenue + profits are different things.

@enesterenko This idea was so off that I didn't even notice that was something like that :D
