I'm very curious to see how this plays out. Airbnb has earned trust from millions of customers and established a strong design-centric brand to compete in an otherwise noisy market. I can see people defaulting to Airbnb over old incumbents like Yelp for services and Tripadvisor for experiences.
@rrhoover also really interesting that they're emphasizing account verification w/ background checks to increase trust:
Airbnb Services are vetted for quality through an evaluation of expertise and reputation. Services hosts have an average of 10 years of experience, have completed Airbnb’s identity verification process, and are required to submit relevant licenses and certifications. Many hosts are renowned in their fields—including chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants, award-winning photographers, and elite trainers.
great design and services in globe but when i want to go iran or middle east i use ezztrip it has also great desing but operating in iran and supports hotels
Expanding into services and experiences makes strategic sense for Airbnb's ecosystem—though maintaining quality control at scale will be the real challenge. The unified app approach could improve discoverability if the UX stays clean.
As an AirBnB superhost for 6 years I can see this becoming an absolutely massive growth channel for them. Our guests are always looking for additional services during their stay. I'm curious to see how this fits in to the overall booking experience (in-search recommendations, add-ons, single checkout, etc.). This is going to be huge.
can anyone kindly advise how one can become a service partner in the Middle East region- is it done with Airbnb directly or with the actual Property Hosts ? Who would be the right contact person at Airbnb to discuss with ? FYI - we have an On Demand services company . thanks

Huge launch and expansion — Airbnb is once again expanding beyond home stays and upleveling Experiences and Services.
Also appears that "Airbnb Is in Midlife Crisis Mode", per WIRED.
What do you think about this new direction? Have you booked any experiences on Airbnb yet?

The US may never get a social credit score like China, but instead reputation will be privatized... 👀
